I am very happy to have gone through all of the cards I have made in the past few months and I chose 45 new cards to send off to Dixie (my shipper), this morning. The shippers do so much work that I always try to help them out, by adding OWH labels or stamps to the back on all my cards. I also add an envelope for each card, and add white liners to the cards created with darj cardstock. I hope that when they arrive, all stamped, sorted and tucked it will make it a lot easier for them to be shipped right back out again.
I am touched by this organization and really have enjoyed doing my little part to help out. I'm very happy to have sent a little over 200 hundred cards in the past year and want to focus on making more this year. Now that I am no longer part of any design teams, I think it will be a nice change to focus on making OWH cards and I've decided that is my goal for the new couple of months. While, I will still take part in challenges for ideas and inspiration, I really want to focus first on my OWH cards. My next goal in card-making is to work to improve my skills and to focus on making really nice quality cards that will make all those who receive them very happy. One way I have always practiced card-making is by taking part in challenges, and I will continue, but will now focus more on making certain that the cards I create can be sent off to OWH! I had close too 100 cards, that could NOT be used for OWH, because of Glitter or bulky/large embellishments. This will also be another way for me to learn to be a better CAS card-maker!
I am also very excited about my new Summer Card Camp that starts on Monday. Ever since taking Jennifer McGuire's workshop at my LSS, I've been inspired to try a lot more techniques and I know this class will help me continue to do more of the same. Looks like there are some awesome crafters also ready to start Card Camp!
The first card was created for the new CAS Challenge and our theme this week was - Dads, Grads or Congrats! I was happy that 'Congrats' theme was added, as I was definitely burnt out on the Male cards! Below is my 'Congratulations' card and I have to tell you that I am LOVING Basic Grey's new 'Out of Print collection', which was used on the top half of this card! I bought mine along with a big box of goodies from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design. Susana carries a wonderful line of 6X6 Paper Packs, which I think are perfect for cardmaking!
My second card was created for this week's Greeting Card Challenge and out theme was to use at least 3 squares on our cards. I did that by adding some good ole' 'Inchies' to my card. I simply glued on matching yellow and black cardstock to make them match the theme of my card. My border is another of those wonderful Memory Box dies I am now addicted to and this one I found at Susana's store while on my little spree last week.
And I have one more and this one, was made for fun and is my way of trying somethign different and also using things from my stash that I have had for a LONG LONG time and have not been put to good sue. I'm not even sure which collection these die cuts came from? I think it may be My Minds Eye, but I'm not sure. They are really cute thought and I simply added some circular dies cuts (make from the left-over green sheet from the card above) to a kraft craft base and had this fun card. I think it would be cute for someone with a new home or someone moving to a new place.
That is today's collection and I'm off now to do some more paper sorting. I'm also in the process of going through all my papers (again) and sorting them by colors/style and design. It makes it a whole lot easier to find colors I want - especially when working on a color combo type challenge!
I also thought it would be fun to add something new to my blog each day and that would be my Favorite Product of TheDay. Any product old or new that was used to create one of my daily cards. Today, that product is the new Basic Grey - Out of Print - 6 X 6 Paper Pack.
