Today, I am hoping to get a few cards I've been working on uploaded for some of my favorite challenges. This first card for for the latest Challenge, (Challenge 5) over at "The Bildmalarna Blog" and this one was also perfect for a pretty Spring Card.
I really enjoyed this one and think this card may end up being for my Mom who had been having a bad week, but happy is fine and well! I am very happy to say that my Mom's Breast Cancer is still happily in remission. She had another big scare this week when something suspicious showed up on her Mammogram, but thankfully after another ultrasound, more views and a visit to her Oncologist, she's been told that all is fine and she's set for another six months! PHEW! A big relief for all!!
She always enjoys when I send her cards...simply 'out of the blue' -- so I think that I'll send this off has a Happy Spring card! I'm very happy that this scare...is OVER and hope it will remind us ALL to do our monthly self exams, have yearly mammograms and always see your doctor if you have any concerns or questions. My Mom is a survivor because her cancer was detected early and that is so important. And, my BFF Kim, is the same way, her Cancer was detected on her very first Mammogram and now 9 years later, she is fine and well and the Mom to two awesome boys!!
I'm proud and happy to always promote Breast Cancer Awareness!

I can only imagine how scary that had to have been for you mom, and you, when they thought they saw something! Same thing happened to my mom and it's such a fright. Her's ended up being nothing too. Glad all is okay. Also glad you BFF Kim (?) is doing so well 9 years out. Your card is absolutely DARLING!!!

Thankfully, my Mom is fine, but it was scary again and always will be! My friend Kim, is also doing wonderful. Unlike my Mom,(who had a lumpectomy), Kim had a double mastectomy and reconstruction and never even had Chemo or Radiation, because it was in such an early stage. Her son Jett, was not even a year old and it was sooo scary, she even was able to have a second son since, and he's now six, times flies by! And I am so thankful that they are both doing FINE and well! :)
It is such a scary scary disease, as you know!

Love your card Lisa! Great coloring with the copics. So happy your mom is OK. I too have been there...My mom also had breast cancer. She was close to her 5 years cancer free, but had many other health problems. She had a massive heart attack and has been gone 9 years. I'm sure your mom will enjoy your card. How nice!
Brenda - I am so very sorry about your Mom. I lost my Dad to a massive heart attack many years ago. (Back in 1988). He died at 58 and it was very hard. My youngest son (Alex) never knew him and my oldest son (Brian) was under 2! Life is far to short to many...that's why we all need to CHERISH every day!

Lisa, I'm happy you're feeling good today! Congratulations on your Mom's test! As a daughter of a breast cancer survivor and being one myself too...I can tell you...it's harder to worry about someone else with breast cancer then it is to have the diagnosis yourself. I remember all too well how scary it is. It does get so much better with time though.

Thank you so much for the kind words. Ever since my Aunt died of breast cancer back in 1986, I have always been a big advocate for Breast Cancer Awareness and always in the back of my mind realized I could very well end up with this myself, especially since my Mom is NOW also a survivor. I think that if that day should arise, I will be able to handle it. If it happened today I think if would opt for a Double Mastectomy and have always felt that would be the best thing for me to do? I do HOPE PRAY I will not ever be faced with it, but I try to remember that is very possible and to kind of mentally prepare myself to some degree.
I had NO idea you were also a survivor, but I am honored and proud to know another survivor. I hope you will continue to remain cancer free! Bless your heart!
